OUR SERVICES

Diamond polishing is how we bring stone back to a smooth, clean finish. At Sky’s Stone Care in St. George, we use diamond pads and water to safely remove dull spots, light scratches, and buildup from daily use. This service works well for marble, granite, travertine, and more.

Our diamond polishing helps:

  • Restore natural shine without wax or coating
  • Smooth out small surface wear
  • Improve the look and feel of your stone
  • Get your counters, floors, or vanities back in shape

If your stone looks worn or cloudy, we can polish it the right way — no shortcuts, no harsh chemicals.

Scratches make stone look old and worn. At Sky’s Stone Care, we remove surface scratches from granite, marble, and other stone without harsh chemicals. Our process smooths out the area and blends the repair into the rest of the surface.

Scratch removal can:

  • Improve the look of high-use areas
  • Help protect the stone from more damage
  • Extend the life of your countertop or vanity

Even small scratches can grow worse over time. We help stop that before it happens — with the right tools and careful work.

Etch marks are dull spots caused by acidic spills — often from juice, vinegar, or cleaners. These stains sink into the stone and won’t wipe away. At Sky’s Stone Care, we use a special process to remove the mark and restore the surface.

We can help:

  • Remove dull white rings or spots
  • Restore shine and color
  • Protect from future damage

Etch stains are common, especially on marble and travertine. We’ve seen it all. One visit and your stone will look more even and smooth again.

Refinishing is the process of restoring your countertop from top to bottom. It’s great for older surfaces or counters with years of wear. At Sky’s Stone Care, we clean, polish, and seal the stone to bring it back to a solid, smooth finish.

Refinishing may include:

  • Scratch and chip repair
  • Diamond polishing
  • Etch and stain removal
  • Full sealing and protection

If your countertop feels rough, looks faded, or has lost its shine — refinishing may be the right choice. We’ll help you bring it back without replacing it.

Over time, stone surfaces collect dirt, grease, and water buildup. Regular cleaning helps, but deep cleaning and sealing protects the surface longer. At Sky’s Stone Care, we use pH-safe cleaners and sealers made for marble, granite, and other stones.

This service includes:

  • Safe, deep cleaning to remove buildup
  • Sealing to help prevent staining
  • Protection from moisture and wear

It’s a good idea to seal your stone once a year. If it’s been longer than that, we can take care of it in one simple visit.

Chips happen — especially around corners and edges. At Sky’s Stone Care, we repair chips in marble, granite, and other natural stone by filling and blending them so they don’t stand out.

Chip repair helps:

  • Restore clean lines and smooth edges
  • Prevent the chip from spreading
  • Avoid bigger damage later

We match the color and texture so the fix doesn’t draw attention. Chips may seem small, but they can lead to cracks or water damage if left untreated. We’ll fix them fast and make it last.

Regular cleaning only goes so far. Deep cleaning is for when stone surfaces need more than a wipe-down. At Sky’s Stone Care, we remove layers of dirt, grease, and buildup using tools and products made for stone.

Deep cleaning is good for:

  • Kitchens and bathrooms with daily use
  • Outdoor counters or bar tops
  • Prepping stone before sealing or polishing

We clean your stone without scratching it or dulling the surface. One deep clean can help restore the look and feel of your stone without any damage.

Honing is the process of smoothing stone with a matte or low-shine finish. It’s ideal for high-traffic surfaces that see lots of use. At Sky’s Stone Care, we hone marble, limestone, and other soft stones to remove scratches and even out the surface.

Honing can:

  • Remove light surface damage
  • Create a soft, smooth finish
  • Reduce glare and hide wear

This is a good option if you want a flatter, more natural look instead of a glossy shine. Honing is clean, safe, and easy to maintain.

Stone is strong, but it’s also porous. That means it can soak up spills if not sealed right. At Sky’s Stone Care, we apply sealers made for natural stone. This protects the surface and makes it easier to clean.

Our sealing process helps:

  • Block stains from food and drink
  • Keep water from soaking into the stone
  • Make cleanup easier and faster

Most stone should be sealed once a year. If it’s been longer, or if you notice dark spots when wet, it’s time to reseal. We’ll make sure it’s done right.

“Great spaces are built on strong surfaces.”

FAQs

  • What types of stone do you work on?

We work on marble, granite, travertine, limestone, and onyx. Whether it’s a kitchen counter, bathroom vanity, floor, or outdoor surface — if it’s natural stone, we can help maintain or restore it.

  • How do I know if my stone needs to be sealed?

You can do a simple test: drip a small amount of water on the surface. If it soaks in within a few minutes, it’s time to reseal. We can also check this for you during a visit.

  • Can you fix chips or cracks in my countertop?

Yes. We repair chips and minor cracks by filling and blending the area so it matches the rest of the surface. Most repairs can be done in one visit and hold up well over time.

  • Will polishing make my countertop slippery?

Not if it’s done right. We adjust the finish based on where the stone is located. Floors are typically honed (not polished) to reduce slipperiness, while counters are polished for shine and ease of cleaning.

  • How long does the work usually take?

Most jobs take just a few hours. Larger areas or deeper restoration may take longer. We’ll give you a clear time estimate before we start so you know what to expect.

"Jeff and his Son Skylar came to fix some holes and try to remove some stains that I couldn't get off my travertine tile. In a few hours they turned my floor from what I thought was going to have to be replaced, into a floor that looks new. I am amazed and would highly recommend them."

If you’re not sure whether your stone surfaces should be polished or honed, you’re not alone. Many homeowners and business owners in St. George ask us this question. At Sky’s Stone Care, we offer both services — and each has its own purpose depending on the look and function you want. Polishing creates a shiny, reflective surface. It’s perfect for stone you want to stand out, like countertops or vanities. Polishing is most common on: Granite kitchen counters Marble bathroom vanities Onyx tables Polishing brings out the color and pattern in the stone. However, it can show water spots, fingerprints, and dust more easily. It also needs regular cleaning and occasional touch-ups to stay sharp. Honing gives the stone a smooth, matte finish. It removes surface wear without adding shine. Honing is best for: Travertine floors Limestone showers Outdoor countertops High-traffic entryways Honed surfaces are easier to maintain, hide scratches better, and don’t show as much glare. They feel soft to the touch and are less slippery when wet — a plus in bathrooms and walkways. When to choose polishing: You want a glossy, high-end look Your stone has light etching or dull areas You want to enhance colors and veining When to choose honing: You prefer a natural, low-sheen look You want a surface that hides wear You’re working with softer stones in high-use areas At Sky’s Stone Care, we help St. George homeowners choose the right finish based on where the stone is and how it’s used. We’ve worked on projects from Desert Hills to Green Springs, and we understand what works best in Southern Utah homes. Need help deciding? We’re happy to inspect your stone and recommend whether polishing, honing, or a full refinish is the right fit.

Sealing your natural stone is one of the best ways to protect it from damage. Whether you have granite countertops, marble vanities, travertine floors, or limestone showers in your St. George home, keeping the surface sealed helps block stains, moisture, and wear. But how often should you seal it? At Sky’s Stone Care, we recommend sealing most natural stone every 12 to 18 months. This timeline depends on the type of stone, where it’s located, and how often it’s used. Why sealing matters: Stone is porous. That means it can absorb liquids like water, oil, coffee, or wine. Once absorbed, those liquids can cause stains, discoloration, or breakdown of the stone surface. Sealing fills in the pores and creates a protective barrier. St. George conditions can wear down sealer faster: The dry air, dust, and hard water in Southern Utah can cause sealers to break down faster than in other areas. We’ve seen many homes in Desert Color, Washington Fields, and Ivins where the sealer wore off within a year due to high usage or improper products. Simple test to check your sealer: Drip a small amount of water on your stone. If it beads up and sits on top, the sealer is still working. If it soaks in or darkens the stone, it’s time to reseal. Stone types and sealing needs: Granite: Once every 1–2 years, depending on use Marble: Every 6–12 months, especially in kitchens and bathrooms Travertine/Limestone: Every 6–12 months, especially in showers or outdoor areas Onyx: Needs regular sealing due to softness and sensitivity What happens during professional sealing? At Sky’s Stone Care, our sealing service includes: Deep surface cleaning Drying time to ensure no moisture is trapped Application of a high-quality, stone-safe sealer Wipe down to remove residue Sealing is often paired with polishing, honing, or chip repair as part of routine maintenance. If it’s been more than a year since your stone was sealed — or if you’re not sure — we’re happy to inspect it and recommend the right next step. If you have natural stone countertops in your home or business in St. George, Utah, it’s important to know when they need professional attention. While stone is strong, it still wears down over time, especially in high-use areas like kitchens and bathrooms. At Sky’s Stone Care, we help homeowners and property managers protect and restore their marble, granite, travertine, limestone, and onyx surfaces with expert care. Here are five clear signs it’s time to call a professional stone care company: 1. Your countertops look dull or cloudy If your stone used to shine but now looks flat, hazy, or cloudy, the surface may be covered in micro-scratches or residue from cleaning products. In many cases, the stone simply needs diamond polishing to remove the worn top layer and restore the natural shine. This is especially common in granite and marble countertops in kitchens where daily use wears down the finish. 2. Water soaks into the surface quickly Unsealed or poorly sealed stone absorbs water fast. A simple way to test this is to drip water on the surface. If it darkens or soaks in within a few minutes, the stone likely needs to be resealed. At Sky’s Stone Care, we offer professional sealing services to protect against stains and water damage. 3. You notice scratches or chips Even small scratches or chips can affect the look and lifespan of your stone. These are often caused by kitchen tools, dropped items, or heavy traffic in commercial spaces. Chips on edges and corners are especially common. Our chip repair and scratch removal services in St. George help fix this damage and prevent it from getting worse. 4. The stone feels rough or uneven Stone should feel smooth and solid. If the surface feels gritty, pitted, or bumpy, it may need honing to even it out. Honing is ideal for travertine, marble, and limestone surfaces that have become worn from use. 5. Stains or etch marks won’t go away Acidic spills from lemon juice, vinegar, wine, or harsh cleaners can leave dull etch marks on marble and other soft stones. These spots are under the surface and won’t clean off. We use safe, proven methods to remove etch stains and refinish the area. If you notice any of these signs on your stone surfaces, contact Sky’s Stone Care. We offer full-service stone restoration in St. George, Utah — including deep cleaning, sealing, polishing, chip repair, honing, and more. Regular maintenance keeps your stone looking good and helps avoid expensive replacements later.
